MODULE THIRTEEN HOMEWORK
While the most commonly recognized tool for scrying is the crystal ball, conjuring mental images of a turban wearing fortune-teller hovering over their magical sphere, there are many forms of scrying that can be employed with the use of easily gathered tools, and are much more cost effective than purchasing an actual crystal ball (which can be quite pricey). Glass balls are a more cost effective alternative to crystal balls, however for today’s homework we are going to be practicing scrying using tools that you already own!
When practicing scrying, with whatever medium you choose to use, the process is the same: You’ll want to set aside a time for your scrying session, ground/center/and tune in, cast your circle, call on your spirit allies and petition them to convey messages to you through the scrying medium that you’ve chosen.
When you feel ready, you’ll gaze into the scrying tool (ball, water, mirrors etc.) Allow your gaze to be soft on whatever you see on the reflective surface.
It may take a while for you to start to ‘see’ anything. Remember those ‘Magic Eye’ puzzle books that were made popular in the early 2000s? You would sit there staring at what seemed to be an image of a series of colours and dots until finally, when you crossed your eyes just the right way, a 3D image would appear before you!
What I always find worked well with those puzzles was to soften my gaze; I wouldn’t actually look at the page in the puzzle book, instead I tried to ‘look through’ the image as though I were looking through a window pane. I use the same concept in scrying. You can practice this technique with ‘Magic Eye’ image above.
Don’t try to discern real images in your scrying tool, as if you were watching re-runs of your favourite episode of “Bewitched”; rather, try to let the shapes and reflections that you perceive inform your subconscious mind, and help to focus the interpretations of any messages that you feel may be given to you through your intentional focus on your scrying medium. Be patient, and try not to judge the process.
Today we will be practicing a Full Moon Scrying Divination.
This rite can be performed outdoors under the light of a full moon, or you can perform it inside using water that has been charged by the light of a full moon. You will want to perform this rite at night time whether you’re practicing in or out doors.
You will need:
A cauldron or dark bowl
Moon water (if you’re performing outdoors, in moonlight, any water will do)
A candle
Your grimoire or journal and a pen
Optional: Your favourite music for meditation
OUTDOOR RITE:Cast your circle, ground/center/tune in.
Call on your spiritual support team including ancestors, guides, deities etc.
If you want to incorporate music, go head and start your music while letting your attention and awareness absorb the energy of your natural surroundings. Feel the breeze on your skin, smell the grass, observe the sounds of the outdoors.
Pour your water into your cauldron or bowl and stand so that you can see the full moon reflected on the surface of the water in your bowl.
In your mind’s eye see the water being imbued with the energy and light of the moon.
When you feel ready, ask your question. What is it that you’re seeking clarity around? What messages are you looking to receive?
Once you have asked your question, quietly and softly gaze upon the reflections in your cauldron or scrying water bowl.
Observe any images, patterns, symbols, thoughts, emotions, sensations that arise during this scrying session.
When you feel that you have received your answer (or at least all that you can perceive at this time) go ahead and close the session by expressing gratitude to your spiritual allies for showing up and helping you.
Sit in quiet contemplation and record all of your experiences in your journal. It is not uncommon for the messages received during scrying sessions to require a bit of contemplation for interpretation, so rather than trying to understand what you’ve experienced at this time, just document your experiences so that you can remember them for interpretation later on.
Once you’ve written everything down, close your circle and pour your water onto the earth.
Over the next few days allow your intuition to inform you of what your scrying session revealed to you as it ‘sinks in’. You can also research dream interpretation resources, or interpretations regarding any symbols or images that you saw or were impressed upon your intuition during your session.
INDOOR RITE:
Cast your circle, ground/center/tune in.
Call on your spiritual support team including ancestors, guides, deities etc.
If you want to incorporate music, go head and start your music.
Pour your moon water into your cauldron or bowl.
Light a candle and place it just to the side of your bowl and stand so that you can see the candle flame reflected on the surface of the water in your bowl.
In your mind’s eye see the water being imbued with the energy and light of the moon.
When you feel ready, ask your question. What is it that you’re seeking clarity around? What messages are you looking to receive?

Once you’ve written everything down, close your circle and pour your water onto the earth or discard it down the sink, or used to water your house plants.
