This module is dedicated to paranormal experiences and activity.
Growing up, I lived in a haunted house. When I say haunted I mean ‘shelves that were anchored into the studs of the wall being torn out and thrown across the room’ kind of haunted. I mean ‘hearing voices that were talking to me and full body apparitions’ kind of haunted. All of the paranormal activity happened in my bedroom and so I ended up sleeping on a cot in my parent’s bedroom for many years. Eventually my Mom and Dad traded rooms with me and a few years after that we moved to a new house, hoping that that phase of our life would be behind us.
After we moved, we still experienced paranormal activity and I realized that it wasn’t just the house we were living in…it was an ability that I had that was attracting these experiences and perceptions to me, and that terrified me. Because of my fear, for many years, I pushed these things away until I was able to finally silence those experiences in my life.
Fast forward to when I became a spiritual teacher and life coach: I kept getting all of these messages from random teachers and mentors, many of whom I had just met and who had no knowledge of that part of my past. The message was always the same: “You’re supposed to be using your psychic gifts to help people.”
I was hesitant and resistant because I was scared to allow myself to go there. I was scared of the experiences I had had as a child, and I didn’t want to live in that fear again. But, I was able to learn how to accept and practice in a way where I set the rules. I set the boundaries and perimeters of how I wanted to show up for these experiences. I learned about sacred contracts and how to navigate in a way that felt safe, secure, and controlled.
Many people have paranormal experiences everyday and the most common response to those experiences is the desire to understand what is happening, why it’s happening, and who is causing it to happen.
Whether you’ve had a paranormal experience or not, as you are opening yourself up to develop your psychic senses it’s important to know what sort of experiences you may encounter as your intuition and senses become more attuned.
The most common type of paranormal experience is the haunting. While there are many types of hauntings, I believe that, for the purposes of this course, the main four types of hauntings are the most important to focus on.
(CLICK HERE FOR THE TYPES OF HAUNTINGS)
It’s worth mentioning here, that not all paranormal activity is a ‘haunt’ in the sense that, in and of itself, the word haunting conjures images, emotions, and reactions of fear. You may receive a message from your Great Granny Ginger and be comforted by it. Indeed, loved ones who have passed often reach out to us to let us know that they are alright, or that we are doing okay. Believe it or not, even ancestors from generations past, whom you have never even met, have a vested interest in your life, and they want you to know that they are there for you, loving you, and supporting you.
Before moving on to our practice exercises, let’s take a few moments to consider the following:
Have I ever had an unexplainable experience that I would consider to be “paranormal”?
Did this experience elicit fear or comfort?
Do I already have a sense of ‘knowing’ what or who is causing this experience, or why?
If this experience elicits fear, do I consider it a ‘haunting?’
Does this experience fall under the criteria of the four major types of haunting?
If you’ve had a paranormal experience that you would consider a haunting, chances are you’ve probably been frightened by it, or at the very least, asked yourself “why is this happening to me?”.
The next thing I’d like for you to consider is what you truly desire from this experience. Do you want it to simply stop? Do you want to know why it’s happening? Do you want to understand what it means? Do you want to find out what or who is causing it to happen? Do you want to communicate with whatever or whomever is causing it? - I have good news for you…the foundations that we have laid from the simple exercises you have been practicing in the previous modules are precisely the same tools that you can use to answer ANY of the questions above.
For this practice exercise, make a list of any paranormal experiences you can remember that you have desired clarity on or about. Take a moment to classify the experience in your mind. Do you think it was a haunt? What type? Do you think it was a loving message from an ancestor? Just go with your gut (you should be getting better at that by now!) and determine what type of experience you would classify it as.
Now that you’ve made your list of experiences, treat this activity just as you would one of the previous exercises:
Tune In using the prayer from Module One
Write your question at the top of the page (ie, Who is causing this to happen? Why is it happening?)
Free write for 15 minutes
Practice as many techniques from Module Two as you’d like, or simply use your favorite technique that you’ve found in your practice thus far.
After you’ve asked and received your message, take a minute to observe how that message made you feel. Do you feel comforted? Frightened? Confused? Angry? Happy?
Try going through this process for paranormal experience from your list. And make sure to note on each practice exactly how you felt afterward.
Please take note of any questions that you may have for the group call!
